It’s a fact, like many of us, I watch porn. And I usually prefer amateur porn because I think it’s more exciting. Isn’t it?

But the other day, after watching on the Internet some anonymous gay men enjoying some sex and taping themselves, I realized that most of them were fucking without condom.

I’d like to think that all these gays -couples, threesomes or groups- having sex together have done the HIV test previously, but honestly I don’t think so.

As a gay that has a profile in a few dating websites, I’ve seen many men asking specifically to have bareback encounters. Even if in their profile they admit to be HIV positive. From my perspective, it’s something terrific.

According to a study published this year in the Journal of the American Medical Association, HIV diagnoses have risen 132% in young males – from 13 to 24 years old – in United States, doubling from a rate of 2.976 cases in 2002 to 6.919 young gay infected in 2011.

And an investigation from the University of Westminster, found that four in every five young gay men in London has had condomless sex with someone they didn’t know and that 7 in every 10 preferred to have bareback sex.

bareback gayI think that we all agree that fucking without condom is better –in terms of excitation- than having sex with it. You feel more in touch with the other and it is way more stimulating. You also don’t have to worry about that piece of latex that sometimes breaks or you can’t find in your wallet, especially when you are in a rush and pretty hot.

I am a young man, and as many of you, have found some one-night stands after a long party. And with some drinks on the body, sometimes it’s difficult to make the right decisions.

But I think that to understand bareback sex as a cool practice is a big mistake. A huge one.

HIV appeared in 1981 and has killed, since then, to over 40 million people in the world. And it was a tragedy during the 80’s and 90’s among the gay community. If you talk to any gay over their fifty, will explain to you how sad it was to lose a friend during these decades.

Therefore, we gays have been constantly advised about the bad and the worst of having unsafe sex. And it’s something that we all keep in mind, at least in many developed countries.

¿Why don’t we give importance to it?

HIV barebakI honestly don’t know. Maybe it’s just the fact that nowadays in most of the commercial porn actors fuck without condom. Or it’s just because HIV has become in many developed countries a chronic disease, instead of a one that kills. But antiretroviral pills are not a solution of anything, just the specific antidote to keep you alive.

I’m not here to judge people that usually have sex without condom. This is just my opinion about an habit I consider that is turning something dangerous to cool.

If you enjoy to bareback, I’d like to hear your point of view.
